Only 25 km from Sant Angelo in Vado you find Urbino, which is one of Le Marches absolute crown jewels. The town is not only one of Italy’s best preserved and most beautiful hill towns, but is also a town of great historic and cultural importance. During the 12th century Federico di Montefeltro hired some of the greatest renaissance artists and architects to decorate his palace and other parts of the town. The ducal palace and the birth house of the later so famous painter Raphael is just a few of the interesting Urbino-sights worth mentioning.


Further to the north you will find San Leo – the romantic and cosy village with the impressive fortress, which was used for military purposes as late as during the second world war.



Because Sant Angelo in Vado is situated close to the borders of both Tuscany and Umbria, your visit at Villa dell’Agata will not be limited to only Le Marche. By car, historic and beautiful towns such as Arezzo in Tuscany, famous for hosting one of Italy’s biggest antique fairs, and the astonishing Gubbio in Umbria is reachable within an hours drive.




 

Nature lovers and hikers can follow one of the many trails upkept by the Comunità Montana, which lead through undisturbed areas of natural beauty, with innumerable places of interest and scenic viewing points.

While there are now fewer two-legged inhabitants of the forests and mountains, eyes and ears should be kept open in case of a possible glimpse of a four legged inhabitantof the region, namely the wild boar.

Even cyclists can feel at home here. Italian and overseas cyclings teams take advantage of the training possibilities, which offers a varied and demanding terrain with the many valleys and hills.

Andy says: "This farm is situated in beautiful countryside with fantastic views. It is remote, about 5km up a small track, and excellent for people wanting to get away from busy lives. The scenery and the animals are what this holiday is all about. There are many animals, peacocks, kittens, dogs, cows, pigs etc and guests are allowed to help out with milking if they wish. The accomodation is a little basic and the larger apartment does not have a living area which keeps you outside during the day, but is less comfortable at night. The hosts are very friendly and will suggest days out and restaurants to visit. This is an ideal spot to get away from it all and relax, so local amenities are not at all geared to tourists."
