Tremithousa villa rental details
Domsvilla, Trimithousa village, 5 miles from Paphos Fort.
I DONT EMPLOY A CLEANER FOR THE VILLA so I do expect you to leave it clean and tidy.
Thats part of why the villa is considerably cheaper than similar places in Paphos. This has worked very well over the last two years, so far I have not had any problems with this. I particularly welcome older couples because they invariably leave the place in exellent condition! Obviously the place is full of cloths, cleaners, brooms etc. to make it easy to leave it ready for the next visitor. Theres a washing machine so you can put the towels, dish cloths and bed linen through the wash and if you dont have time to put them away, leave them to dry on the clothes horse.
The villa is in a complex of 8 villas at the edge of Trimithousa village. There is a communal pool. Its not huge but its not tiny either! The place is ideal for middle aged and older couples who want somewhere without loads of kids everywhere that is quiet but within easy reach of Paphos itself.
Trimithousa is 5 miles from Paphos tourist zone, just off the Polis Road and 13 miles from the airport. Ayos Neophytos Monastery is 5 minutes drive along the road. A car is pretty much essential unless you are really organised with the local buses and taxis.
The place certainly isnt "luxury", "unique", its not a match box either. It was built in 1999 when land was not so expensive so things could be a little more spaced out that they tend to be built these days!
There is one double and one twin bedroom. If you intend to use the place as a base to wander off and visit the island it should be just perfect.
The kitchen is quite large. Its reasonably well equipped so there is no real need to go out to eat. There is a small bar in the village a few minutes walk away that serves light snacks. There are several tavernas in Mesogi less than a mile away. They are all considerably cheaper than similar places in Paphos itself.
The nearest mini supermarket is less than half a mile away. There are several much larger ones on the main road down into Paphos.
Smokers are welcome to smoke outside on the balconies but not inside. Usually its so warm in the summer that its no great hardship.
Countryside
The village is about 300m (900ft) above sea level so during the summer it’s a little cooler and the air is noticeably drier than in the middle of tourist zone Paphos.
When I bought the place in 1999 the whole area felt very rural and a long way from anywhere but its slowly becoming more urban.
Bryan, my next door neighbour takes excellent care of the pool and communal garden. The trees and bushes in the garden have matured nicely giving the place a secret vally feel to the place! Ive got a couple of olive trees in my own garden area, unfortunately Im rarely there at the right time of year to harvest them!
The place is generally pretty quiet, although its beside the main road through the village. Its just outside a 30km/h zone past the local school so noise is pretty minimal even during the day. There are fields around the villa complex. You are out in the countryside at the edge of a village so you might get to "enjoy" the sound of donkeys, dogs, chickens, frogs, birds, crickets and anything else that lives there that likes to sing its heart out at night, especially in spring. Its not usually intrusive and certainly no worse than elsewhere in Cyprus. Personally I love to listen to it as it makes me realise just how much I dont like the sound of London traffic!
Pool and communal area rules.
There are some common sense rules about the pool.
The back garden area is communal and the pool is not fenced off. The pool is quite deep, 2.4m in the middle and there is a considerable bottom slope. This means that an adult must supervise children in the pool and communal areas at all times.
Do not take food/drink or glass into the pool. If you want to take a drink to the poolside area then please use a plastic cup instead as finding and finding and cleaning up glass from the pool bottom is almost impossible.
The pool area lights automatically switch off around the pool at about 10.30-11.00pm. No swimming after lights off or before 8am. There are permanent residents in several of the other villas so you please give them some consideration and keep the noise down as the evening draws on.
extra information about this Tremithousa villa rental
There is a gas fire in the sitting room. You shouldnt need it between April and October. Its not an open fire but a more efficient model with a glass front so you can roast nicely when its cold outside. I dont keep an eye on the level of the gas bottle for the fire so if you think it likely you will want this, email me to discuss before booking.
There are fly screens on most doors and windows so you can leave the windows open at night which is usually nicer than using the air conditioning.
There is a pair of binoculars for any budding birdwatchers and a Vodafone Cytanet pay as you go mobile phone in the villa as its much cheaper to use than any UK mobile, top up cards are available from any local kiosk/supermarket.
There is a bookshelf with a collection of holiday reading material for you just in case you finish your own book early.
