This is a newly renovated, fully restored french farmhouse providing spacious rooms with a large lounge (40m2) and separate kitchen / dining room (total floor space 180 square metres).
The gite sleeps six to seven people comfortably, comprising two double bedrooms, one twin bedded room and a sofa bed in the lounge.

On the ground floor the fully fitted kitchen opens directly onto the large, private garden (one acre in size), offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside and your own private swimming pool. There is an enclosed pergola offering shade when necessary and close by is a traditional French barbeque for those balmy summer evenings. The kitchen is traditional style with a fine oak beamed fireplace. From here there are views across the rolling fields and front garden.

Upstairs there are two spacious bedrooms and a large airy bathroom. The bedrooms all have exposed oak beams and are fitted to the highest standard.
The third bedroom is downstairs along with the second wc/shower room.

Upon arrival, a welcome pack awaits you comprising of wine, fresh bread, butter, milk, free range eggs and fresh fruit. The owners are only three kilometres away so in the rare event you may need any assistance, they are always on hand to help. Your nearest neighbours are well over 500 metres away so you can have a very peaceful holiday.

Electricity and gas are included in the rental charge. Linen is supplied and firewood can be provided during the colder months.

 

This gite is within the Deux Sevres area bordering the Vendee. The Poitou-Charentes region is situated on the Western Coast of France between Nantes and Bordeaux. Our region is blessed with an exceptional number of sunshine hours (2250). It is the sunniest region in Western France. The coast of the Poitou-Charentes is one of the most popular with French holidaymakers, known for its long stretches of sand and good weather.

The gite is set in a peaceful rural location, two kilometres away from L'Absie and is ideal for leisurely walks and cycling. The village has two boulangeries, a mini-supermarket, a coffee shop, a newsagent, two bars, two very good restaurants and is easily within walking distance through the spectacular oak forest.

This tranquil part of France is totally unspoilt and retains its old world charm. The gite is located in a farming community offering traditional markets, weekly in Moncoutant, Coulonges and twice weekly in Parthenay and Bressuire.

The local Go Kart track and the Foret de l'Aventure (tree top adventure park) are 5 minutes away. You could even admire the rolling hills of the Gatine on a microlite flight. Within easy cycling distance The Rocher Branlant (The Rocking Rock) is a great place to have a picnic and the kids can challenge Dad to rock the giant ten ton boulder.

For those more leisurely days you can relax by the water at Pescalis which is only ten minutes away, offering a number of lakes with a variety of fishing, water sport facilities and restaurants or you can play golf at Mazieres en Gatine, one of France's premiere course within stunning surroundings of a pre-revolution chateau (only 20 minutes away).

Also closeby is Vouvant one of the "Plus Beaux Villages of France" with its art galleries, quaint bars and restaurants. The medieval town of Parthenay will delight you with its weekly cattle and farmers markets and you can wonder in the cobbled streets in the old town or stroll along the picturesque riverbank.




 

The famous port of La Rochelle is only one hour away. There are lively quayside markets, quaint cobbled streets and stunning architecture and if you like seafood, there are many seaside restaurants offering you good value and generous serving. Take a boat trip to Fort Boyard or visit the fascinating aquarium. The idyllic beaches of the Ile de Re (some 30 km worth) are well worth a day's visit.

The Mervant forest, only a short drive away and one of the largest woodlands in France, offers superb walks around the spectacular lake and forest. Here you can go boating, fishing, swimming and there's even an adventure park and zoo for the kids.

Take a trip to the Puy de Fou (only 35 mns away), the original medieval theme park with a cast of hundreds who re-enact the history of the Vendee. Spectacular displays including the flying of birds of prey, the storming of the Donjon (medieval jousting) and Europes only full size replica of the Roman Coliseum with lions, tigers and gladiators.

Visit Futuroscope in Poitiers (about 50 minutes away), for a mind blowing experience in cinematography. This unique theme park will amaze you in every way with a collection of 3D cinemas offering a sensation that will make you think you're in a space station, or careering down country roads at breakneck speeds! An experience not to be missed.

The marais poitevin (or Green Venice) is a fascinating maze of canals which cover an area of 230000 acres from Niort and Fontenay-Le-Comte to the Atlantic ocean. Visit, also, The Poitou donkey park at Dampierre-sur-Boutonne and marvel at this special breed of dreadlocked donkey.

A good range of books, DVD's, darts, badminton set, board and card games are available in the gite. Also, you can try to beat the kids at Boules or Petanque (very French!), or swim in the private pool.

The farm house comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the Lounge. This gives room for up to 7 people.

The farm house has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The farm house has television dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio. Recreational activities available with the farm house include table tennis.

There is room for 8 in the living room and 7 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
