Our charming cottage
Situated in the heart of the inland Vendee we are delighted to offer for holiday rental our spacious and well equipped 3 bedroom family home.
A large and well equipped re-fitted kitchen/dining room, cosy lounge,three bedrooms and seperate bar/games room make this an ideal place to enjoy the warm and sunny Vendee climate and the fabulous tourist attractions that the area has to offer.
It comprises of one large double bedroom, a large twin bedroom and a smaller childrens bedroom with bunk beds. Upstairs is a large family bathroom with a convenient wc/cloakroom downstairs.
Outside you will find a private courtyard with sunloungers, patio furniture and barbecue and there is also a seperate garden with charming seating area,
 

The hamlet of L’Ardeloute is set inside a triangle of 3 French towns Pouzauges to the North Chantonnay to the West and La Chataignerie to the South.
Pouzagues is the nearest town only 10 minutes drive away and has all the facilities you will need during your stay: supermarkets, shops, banks, bars, restaurants etc.
Within a short drive there are many beautiful villages:
Bazoges-en-Pareds with its Medieval Tower (Donjon) and gardens which are open to the public for a small entrance fee, the village also has a renowned restaurant.
Mouilleron-en-Pardes is a charming village with am impressive church in the lively square. There are bars, restaurants and shops and the working ‘lavoir’. From the village there is a wonderful walk up to the windmills.
Vouvant is often put forward as one of Frances most beautiful villages and has justifiably won many awards. This ancient hilltop village lies 12km north of Fontenay-le-Comte, surrounded by medieval walls and looking down over the meandering river Mère. Folklore has it that the fairy Melusine built Vouvant Chateau in a single night.
There are many other beautiful and historic villages only short distances from L’Ardeloute most have markets on different days of the week and numerous festivals throughout the year.
 

Places to visit

The cottage is ideally located to enjoy the tranquillity of the beautiful Vendee countryside whilst being only about an hours drive from La Rochelle, the lovely Vendee beaches and many other visitor attractions.

La Rochelle in Charente Maritime is without doubt the most fascinating place on the French Atlantic coast. Steeped in history the city features the Old Port with its 3 very different ancient towers guarding the exit to the sea. One of the country’s foremost yachting centres the city is a bustle of activity with numerous shops, museums and its famous Aquarium.

Opposite La Rochelle lies the fashionable Island of Re which is linked by a bridge to the mainland. The island, famous for its salt marshes, has vineyards, farms and whitewashed villages, which all add to its undoubted charm. Numerous blazed cycle-ways allow visitors to crisscross the island discovering the peace and quiet offered by its fantastic beaches, and picnic spots.

The sun shines down on the Vendee for an amazing 2,500 hours a year almost as much as the South of France. There are 140 Kilometres of gorgeous sandy beaches down the coastline of the Vendee many of which are European Blue Flag accredited for their cleanliness and water quality.

Within half an hours drive of the Cottage is Le Puy-du-Fou and Cinescenie. Justifiably regarded as the greatest sound-and-light show in Europe. On summer evenings, the terrace below the rear façade of the chateau, together with the ornamental lake below it, makes a stunning background for this dazzling show, in which the history of the Vendée region comes to life with the help of 800 actors and 50 horsemen, including an impressive array of special effects, fountains, fireworks, laser and other lighting displays. Performances throughout the day include falconry, jousting, magic and music, demonstrations of rural crafts and atmospheric reconstructions of a Norman fort, a medieval town and an 18th-century village.

Another must visit during your stay is ‘La Venise Verte’ (The Green Venice). Now a French regional park, Marais Poitevin , is a system of canals, dykes and slow flowing rivers amongst meadows and poplar trees through which farmers are often seen travelling in flat bottomed punts. Visitors can explore the canals by punt (with or without a boatman to guide you) on the peaceful waterways, or via the many miles of well marked cycling tracks.
 

The cottage comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 1 twin. . This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The cottage has 1 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use.

The cottage has television dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The cottage is in a very quiet area. It has a garden, a patio area, panoramic views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking and a garage with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The cottage is right beside walking, cycling, mountain biking.

Close to the cottage you will find swimming, tennis, a sports center, historic sites, a museum, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find fishing, golf, a zoo, a theatre/cinema, a themepark.

Le Venise Verte is about 45 mins drive

Le Puy du Fou , Medieval the Park is about 30 mins drive.

Debra says: "Arriving at this rural hamlet property was a delight as we were looking for a peaceful retreat and that is exactly what you get here! The wildlife surrounding the immediate area was a wonder to watch and we found the local residents very accommodating and friendly. The cottage itself is spacious and well furnished and the finer detailing has been well addressed. The availability of shower or bath tub was a welcome option and both were clean and well functioning . Shopping was nearby but a car is really needed to access the supermarkets. There were books, dvds etc which were welcome.....though a peaceful garden was really the key entertainment for us :0) Overall we really enjoyed our stay were delighted with the accommodation. "
