Introduction
My husband and I arrived at Duquesa for the first time ever in July 04, when we were smitten, the view took our breath away, no wonder it’s called Spain’s best kept secret.

We fell in love with the marina, and immediately bought this lovely apartment. Since then, we have been back many times and love it a little bit more every time.

There are a few apartments for rent in the SURROUNDING area, most of them DO NOT OFFER 3 BED,FRONT LINE MARINA FOR THESE PRICES, but, all boasts the marina, now you have the opportunity to sit on the balcony and enjoy the splendour of overlooking the harbour

Around the Charming resort of La-Duquesa you will find every conveniences and facility for your family built around the beautiful focal point of its own 360 berth marina, the award winning holiday village consists of attractive apartments linked by palm-lined boulevards with a superb range of facilities.

Strolling around the resort, each elegant archway leads to a new selection of shops, bars with entertainment and an outstanding variety of restaurants e.g. 4 Cantonese, 4 Italian, Tapas, 5 star meals, good Irish breakfast, English food, fresh pizza outlet and many more, they even have a butcher’s shop and a small supermarket.

This is all on your doorstep and thanks for the fact that the heart of the resort is closed to traffic. This is a joy for holiday makers of all ages.

Mary says: " Puerto Del La Duquesa If you are keen, like we are, of life based around a marina then Puerto Del La Duquesa is the place for you. We don’t own a boat or even sail, but there is an attraction associated with the life style surrounding a marina that gives pleasure and draws you to it. If you stay in Pat’s apartment, you will be ideally placed to allow you to enjoy the comings and goings of the sailing fraternity. You are right in the hub of things. Pat’s apartment has a balcony which overlooks the marina and the view is absolutely amazing. Just relaxing and enjoying the view from the balcony is an experience in itself – not to be missed. The apartment is spacious, and adequately furnished, comprising a large lounge, three bedrooms each with two single beds, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Access to the apartment, on the second floor, is by lift but stairs are also available. There are two car parks in the very near vicinity to the apartment, easy walking distance to the apartment, if you are travelling by motorcar. The water front has many café/bars, great for a drink and a lunchtime snack. Some café/bars stay open until the early hours. Also there are many restaurants around the marina to suite everyone’s culinary tastes and pocket. Situated at either side of the entrance to the marina are two beach bars, offering you the opportunity to hire sun beds and while away the days topping up your suntan. The beeches are unspoilt and clean. If you do not wish to venture far and are looking just for a local British bar, then there are two below the apartment in the court yard, Hemingway’s and The Penguin Club. We visited Duquesa in late May 2008 and at this time of year it was not busy. We understand July and August are the very busy periods. For use May was ideal. We had one day when it rained in the ten days of our holiday. The weather was ideal and not too hot. Understand though that it can get very hot later in the year in July and August. We decided not to hire a car for our stay in Duquesa. A friend transported us to and from Malaga Airport, which is over an hour away. Local transport by bus is cheap, fairly reliable time wise and allowed us to venture to neighbouring villages for days out. There are two villages within walking distance of Duquesa, Castillo and Sabinillas. Castillo is very quite and has many restaurants. Having walked to Castillo during the day time on several occasions during our stay, we decided to dine out there one night to see if night time became a more busy. Castillo remained quite, but we enjoyed a very good meal. Sabinillas is a larger village, with more amenities such as banks and super markets. It is has a market one day each week which is worth a visit. Further a field is Estopona for which transport is required, motor car or bus. Estopona has a marina also and a nice boulevard with bars and restaurants – a lovely way to stretch your legs. Good for a day out and the weekly market day also. If you need to go further a field, the bus station provides transport further to Marbella and sites further along the coast. Gibraltar lies within easy reach of Duquesa. A one hour bus journey to La Linea costing approximately 3 Euros, hop off the bus and walk across the border and the airport runway. Remember though that you may be British but will need to show your passport at the border. In conclusion, we love Duquesa, its marina and Pat’s apartment with its magnificent view from the balcony. We chose a good time of year to visit in late May. Later on in the year, July and August, we assume the days are far hotter and maybe Duquesa gets far more busy and far louder with the vicinity of many local bars near to Pat’s apartment. It all depends on what you are looking for. We found quietness and relaxation. However, if you wish for a more energetic lifestyle, we are sure that it can be found in Duquesa. "
