Set into the hillside this was formerly the house of the Mining Engineer. The apartment is on one level and has ground floor access (on the left, road side) but becomes a first floor with great views by the time you reach the terraces. The 'chimney' structure on the largest terrace is a BBQ, or an open fire for Autumn /Winter evenings ! (Great for apres-ski as well !).

In combination the two terraces have space of 45 sq metres, bigger than a studio in themselves !
These two front terraces look over the gardens to the old centre of the village of Vernet Les Bains and Mount Canigou beyond it. This is a place to rest without feeling cut off. 

With plenty of sleeping and living room for 6 or 7 people. (We have had 9 for dinner, for a week, and it works.)

A smart living area with TV and Music, a sofa and lots of books. Individual seats plus Dining Table and chairs.
Toys are available as well, but at parents's own assesment of risks !

A well-equipped dining kitchen with Dishwasher, Microwave and Fridge Freezer and Oven/Hob.

Bathroom with shower and wc, plus a separate toilet.

 

The smallest of the bedrooms (bunk beds ) is not small and has its own patio with views beyond.
The twin bed room is very large and airy and has yet another perspective with great mountain views.
The double bedroom has its own doors onto the covered terrace, and great views of Mt. Canigou.

There are interesting walks from the grounds themselves (or even scenic runs !) and many more within easy reach.


 

This apartment is set in nice grounds. There are only two buildings: the original mine engineer's house which is our apartment and a few studios, plus a small 2 storey block of studios. We say the apartment is equipped for 6, but we have had 9 people for dinner for a full week without problems. The communal gardens are all around the buildings and so have many aspects and views. We have two terraces facing Mount Canigou and the village of Vernet Les Bains (one terrace is covered) and also an enclosed patio area at the rear. The village is a short walk away and is lively, with street cafes even in January and village gatherings in Summer. Our situation means you can be quiet and restful without feeling 'cut off'. Oh, and there is the spa and casino as well ! The village pool is just minutes walk away.

The gite comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 2 twin and 1 cots. The property also has 1 single sofa bed located in the futon in double room. This gives room for up to 7 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The gite has 1 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The gite has television. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The gite is in a very quiet area. It has a garden, a south facing patio area, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking and a garage with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The gite is right beside walking, cycling, mountain biking.

Close to the gite you will find swimming, fishing, horse riding, tennis, a sports center, historic sites, a museum, a zoo, a theatre/cinema, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the gite you will find a beach, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, climbing, flying, skiing/snowboarding, golf, a themepark.

''We had an excellent time thanks, the apartment was great, really well appointed - everything we needed.

Vernet was brilliant, although I suspect a little quieter than the locals would've liked. We spent about 1.5hrs each day wandering to outlying villages, mainly the Plus Belle de France ones.

We dined out about half the time, making excellent use of your Bar-b-que on the other evenings....

I also made use of your library and finished two and a half books.

Our trip home went as planned apart from slight hysterics from our 2 year old on take-off. It seems she didn't want to go home, but then
neither did I.''
