Faersnes Guest Farm is situated up in beautiful surroundings between the lakes by the name of Vegår and forbuvann.

Færsnes is a paradise for fishing and hiking, but don’t feel guilty when you indulge and pamper yourself in the luxury of the ”log built” houses with their cozy log fires, swimming pools, saunas and jacuzzi’s…

All around Faersnes are forest glades and twinkling water… The only sounds are nature, the wind, the waterfall from lake Forbuvann and the gentle jingle of sheep bells. The area is rich in wildlife… You’ll see hares, beavers, elk (moose) , deer and even the chance of buzzards…

The air is fresh… The water can be drunk from the steams and lakes… Those who enjoy unspoilt countryside will appreciate Faersnes with its smells, colours, landscape, sounds… and of course quietness… This is Faesnes…

If you would like an enjoyable and authentic holiday expeience then we would definitely recommend a period relaxing in the old Smoke Sauna with a selection of local produce accompanied with a glass of wine.

A very special place… the design is hexagonal and inspired by nature herself ... ice crystals and bee hive cells. Here is 170 m2 of sheer luxury and traditonal Norwegian craftmanship. There are five bedrooms with twelve beds.. A large lounge with open fire lace and a smaller TV lounge. There is a well equipped kitchen, two toilets and a bathroom. Also you have an indoor swimming pool, jaquzzi and of couse a sauna to use at your own will. The wrap around veranda means you can follow the sun and the enjoy the views towards lake Vegår.
 

Activities Winter: Depending on snow conditions you can cross country ski everywhere around the cabin, forging your own tracks in virgin snow. There is a small local ski center at Vegårshei (12 km/7miles away) and if there is not sufficient snow, there are inland mountain downhill slopes 60km/40miles away (about 1 hours drive) Note: these cabins are located in Southern Norway and at a lower altitude than the ski resorts further inland. Snow is likely but not guaranteed. If it doesn’t snow, low temperatures will however make the landscape and icy lakes beautiful. In previous years snow has started in November and lasted until February.

Fishing

To go fishing in lake (even if you are not a keen angler) Vegår is one the most exciting things you can experience in our region. So… if you are a professional fly fisherman after the lake Vegår ”wild Brownie” of up to 7 kilos or a five year old trying spinning for perch for the first time, there is something for you.

The lake Vegår land owners association have worked hard in preparing the area for country sports lovers. They have mapped the whole area building boat launching ramps, jetties suitable for the handicapped, marked hiking trails and forest clearing to make the area suitable and accesable to all. You may fish with all normal fishing tackle including the unusual Norwegian ”oter”… net fishing is only allowed with special permission.

You will find Wild Brown Trout, Perch and eels in Lake Vegår.

On the farm there are many sauna’s. In addition to this there is even a beach sauna. But the most traditional must be the Røykbadstua (smoke sauna). This sauna takes up to 8 hours to prepare… with damp birch wood smoke. When the temperature is reached the smoke is let out and the guests are let in! This is unusual but exhilarating experience which we would totally recommend.

IMPORTANT Cabins/Properties with swimming Pools.
Electricity not included in price this will be charged by the on site manager at 1.5 NOK (Norwegian Kroner)per KW used.For this holiday home in Norway, a deposit is paid when the key is collected, the size of which depending on the value of the holiday home. This deposit acts as security for the holiday home being passed on in a clean and presentable state and as an on-account payment for electricity. This property has an indoor swimming pool The deposit will be (£250) approx, Payable in local currency.
Linen (duvet covers, bottom sheets & pillow cases and towels) can be hired on arrival from the onsite manager. It is standard Norwegian practice not to make the beds up. This is done by the customer on arrival. You are welcome to bring your own linen if you prefer. Duvets and pillows are provided.

Cancellation insurance in the case of illness or death.
Included in the rental is compulsary cancellation insurance of 4%. Only those people named on the booking form are covered by the insurance.
What does the insurance cover?
The insurance covers that part of the rental which is not refunded upon cancellation of the booking in situations where the insured is prevented from going through with the booking, or where going through with the booking is made extremely difficult: Details of the policy can be sent on request.

Arrival at the holiday home
Where nothing else is stated on the website, on price lists or in the rental agreement, the rental period runs from the first day 16.00 (4 p.m.) to the last day 10.00 (10 a.m.). You should arrive at the holiday home on the first day for the holiday period before 19.00 (7 p.m.) unless otherwise stated in the rental agreement. Arrival at a later time should be agreed in good time with the company.We cannot be held responsible, should late arrival make it impossible to gain access to the holiday home on the first day of the holiday period.
Due to the geography and the location of some of the properties in Norway, We would strongly recommend the use of a car during your stay. Public transport can be expensive and infrequent compared to the UK.

On site there is also a Traditional Røydkbadstua (smoke sauna) which has been on the farm for hundreds of years. This is a unqiue Norwegian experience sauna: a fire is lit inside and heated up for 6 to 8 hours. The smoke is let out and in you go with your fresh wet birch! Small additional charge for firewood. We recommend this experience! (There will be an additional charge for this) The price includes final cleaning, bed linen, firewood and electricity. In winter you can use the main parking area ( approx 50m ) from your cabin

The lodge comprises 5 bedrooms in total; 5 double and 2 cots. . This gives room for up to 12 people.

The lodge has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. The lodge has a sauna.

The lodge has television video, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio.

There is room for 12 in the living room and 12 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The lodge is in a very quiet area. It has a private swimming pool, a garden, a balcony, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.
