Every season has its advantages at Lovlia.... Each season is more defined than the UK... We have recorded temperatures from plus 30 degreed in the Summer t minus 30 in the Winter... !! Come to Lovlia to Slow down get away from it all and have some old fashioned family time.

Summer ... During the Summer the water is warm enough to swim in the lake... or perhaps take a trip to to the small local beach .. just 5 mins by car from the house... Fish Mackrell in the Fjord and have a BBQ on one of the 100s of small islands. Dont believe the myth that Norway is cold 365 days a year! We often get far better Summers than the UK!

Autumn... the colours of the trees ... and the mist over the lake offer great opportunities for photography and painting... Or perhaps berry picking ... Blueberries and cranberries grow wild .. in the forest behind the house. Or if you know what you are doing ... there are wild mushrooms galore...

Winter.. the landscape changes ... snow is usual from mid November... and in December the lakeis usually frozen. This offers great oppertunities for x country skiing... skating.. Ice fishing... or just walking in the snow... There are walks from house....

Spring... the ice is melting... a wonderful time to visit Norway... Especially around the 17th of May... a colourful time on the National Day...

General Info on Lovlia...

This holiday accomodation has fabulous views overlooking the lake. In the lake during the right seasons you can fish for trout perch... and even the occassional salmon... There are nets that can be put out.. and an area where you can BBQ your catch. The lake is ideal for swimming too...

Wildlife. You will see an abundance of wildlife. Depending on the season...There is a resident family of beavers... which if you are lucky you can see... Plus an elk (moose) walk can be arranged... into the local forests. We have a GPS you are welcome to borrow. Bird life too is in abundance... from water birds to birds of prey. There have been reports too of the occasional wolf in the area!

The property has its own rowing boat and fishing nets...which you will have free access to.

There is also a small boat with 5 HP engine that can be hired separately. On the sea. See extras. (During the winter the fjord usually freezes) It is often possible to walk on the sea ice.. and fish.

CHRISTMAS... Lovlia... is available over the Christmas and New Year. Although the house is not situated at a very high altitude... In a usual year there will be snow from mid November up until mid March. During January the lake freezes... and depending on conditions it is possible to walk and skate... and take a spark... (chair on skiis) or x crountry ski... There will be a 95% chance of a white Christmas ... although of course this cannot be guaranteed. Lovlia is ideally situated to take a day trip up to the local ski centre... at Gautefall which is about 90 Kms away... and can be reached in about 90 minutes. There are local sledging hills... and Risør is a quiet but pretty place to visit in the Winter.

Lovlia is a place to relax in during the winter... Infront of the cozy log fire... or on the balcony infont of the open fire with a hot chocolate...  

The property is approxiamately 25 minutes from Risor. and a 90 min drive drive from both Kristiansand and Olso Torp.

The lounge has lovely views to the lake... TV and DVD player ... and a selection of English games which will be enough to keep the children happy even if you are unlucky with the weather!

The property consists of Lounge, Hall, Kitchen.. and two bedrooms.

Plugs and electrical sockets. There is a normal 230 to 240V supply. The house is equiped with both UK and Norwegian sockets. (standard European).

Sleeping Arrangements...

One double main bedroom... with door to balcony. Sleeps 2

Bedroom 2 with family bunk bed. There is a double bed under...with a single bed over. Sleeping 3 in total.

The kitchen is modern... with slate floor... micro, dishwasher and most things you will require and a little more!

If required an extra (Zed)bed can be added on request.

There is a small patio .. with a BBQ, Open fire ...With decked area.

There are two cycles ... one mountain and a ladies bike which you are free to use. There is a spark (chair on skiis) and various sledges for the children for the winter months.

Fishing rods can be supplied on request... But terminal tackle must be supplied by the guests.

Trips to other parts of Norway can be suggested and planned on request.

Lovlia is ideally situated. It is within a short drive of Oslo Torp... with 10 mins of the salt water fjords of southern Norway and is a few metres from a large lake.

The area is in a farming community... where the main commodity is logging. You are free to roam ... where you like... and there are walks directly from the house.

 

From its sunny coastline to inland mountain plateaus, pine forests and spectacular fjords, its no wonder that Southern Norway is the Norwegians choice for a holiday destination.

With summer temperatures often reaching the 30s newcomers are suprised at how different this region can be from their expectations. It isnt just about snow and mountains (though you can still find them in abundance - it is Norway after all!) there are sandy beaches, quiet country walks, family entertainment, exciting adventures - Southern Norway has something for everyone.

It is easy to fall in love with Risør. This white town on the Skagerrak is the melting pot of Sørlandet. Outer Risør has the magnificent archipelago and romantic Sørland houses which stand shoulder to shoulder around the beautiful harbour. Everything goes on inside Risør.

Street life is more continental than Norwegian. There is activity all around and things are constantly going on like the Chambermusic Festival, the Arts and Crafts Festival and the International Woodenboat Festival.

Risør is also known for its galleries, three of them are open all year round. During the summer comes at least three more, which is quite good concidering that Risør town has only 7.000 inhabitants.

The large balcony overlooking the lake is the feature of this house. The main bedroom has its own patio doors out to the balcony. A rowing boat... is available FREE of charge on the lake. Free fishing. Walks directly from the house into the forest. Where elk (moose) and deer roam free. Beavers and other wild life can be seen on the lake. SLEEPING. 1 x Double bed (2) 1 x Family bed. (Bunk bed double under single on top) . Zed Bed available Although there is not a washing machine in the apartment. washing can be organised by the owner. Internett access is also now included. (own laptop required)

The apartment comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. The property also has 1 single sofa bed located in the Zed Bed available. This gives room for up to 6 people.

The apartment has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use.

The apartment has television and home cinema with dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio. A computer with Internet connection is also available for your use.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The location of the apartment means you will hear some noise, though not excessive. It has a patio area, a balcony, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

Close to the apartment you will find a beach, sailing, horse riding, golf, scuba diving, historic sites, a museum, a theatre/cinema, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Lee says: "We have just returned from a weeks winter holiday at this lovely apartment. The apartment is superbly equipped. It is warm and homely, and always cosy. The setting is stunning, and I have never had a more peaceful and relaxing holiday. We had a wonderful time playing in the 18 inches of snow on the lake and in the surrounding hills. We did loads of sledging in the hills, borrowing the sledges and spark thoughtfully provided. It really was the Winter Wonderland that we had hoped for. The hosts, Tony and Lisa, were always helpful, but unobtrusive. We really hope to return one day, in the summer, to see this beautiful area in its summer splendour. Thank you for a wonderful week."
