Dikili
Dikili is situated at the north of Izmir, this charming county which is 120 km. away from Izmir, attracts Turkish tourists with its lovely beaches and clear water.

It is described as a beautiful little Town by a best selling travel author and our villa is recommended as an ideal place to get away from the maddening Crowd.

Surrounding Dikili from is some spectacular scenery, mountains, olive groves, vineyards and cotton fields. You can see the people working the land; horses and carts are still widely in use. Or how about the sight of a tractor with about 20 workers hanging on for dear life. This is where you start to get a feel for real Turkish life.

This seaside town contains mainly holiday villas (for Turkish people) and a few hotels. The charming centre with cobbled streets has restaurants, bars and shops. American and European tourists from cruise ships briefly pass through on their way to Bergama. This means that although the resort remains uncommercialised, the locals are used to and interested in foreign visitors.

Dikili becomes largely deserted in the winter, except for the die-hard residents that live there all year round. In the summer months Turkish tourists with summer houses venture there for their holidays, and at weekends.

Beaches

The beach is 6km long and is mainly sandy. The main beach, Belediye Halk Plaj holds blue flag certification. The areas near the hotel and the centre offer the most in terms of services (ie refreshments umbrellas sun beds etc). However there are many areas that remain in their natural state including the beach near the villa. So depending upon what you like there is something for everyone in Dikili.

Major Attractions
There are so many reasons for visiting this region of Turkey we have listed just some of them below.

Experience the real Turkey.

The beach in Dikili is 6km long and sandy and holds blue flag certification. Dikili is also famous for its beautiful sunset. Explore the charming streets there are lots of excellent restaurants and bars.

Some of the finest and best value diving in Turkey

Visit Candarli (15 mins away) which has a Genoese Castle and Fortress and a bay surrounded by the sea on 3 sides

Go to Avyalik (30 mins away) which boasts one of the best white sand beaches in Turkey and is also famous for its Greek Architecture

Visit the Greek Island of Lebos for a day.

Thermal & Mud Baths Within 40 minutes drive there are 8 thermal baths including the famous Cleopatra Beauty Spa as recommended by the lady herself. In addtion there is a mud bath within 15 minutes of the villa so go spoil yourself.

Foca - The place of legend, remember the Sirens who lead sailors to their deaths, visit by all means but bring your earplugs.

Troy - With the film coming out this is the perfect opportunity to visit, Troy is within 2 1/2 hours drive of the Villa.

Beautiful Bademli is within 15 minutes drive and is has to be seen to be appreciated. Bademli sums up Turkeys natural beauty perfectly.

You will also have the opportunity to visit our families mountain village in the Kozak Plateau. This area beats Tuscany hands down in terms of stunning scenery. The villagers still live a traditional lifestyle and you will have the opportunity to visit the mosque as well as the houses within the village.

Last but certainly not least Bergama or historic Pergamon which has some of the finest historical sites in Turkey. It is mentioned twice in Frommers travel guide Once as one of the best historical sites to visit, and again as one of the best small towns or villages

There are two bedrooms with 4 single beds in each. There are also two double sofabeds in the living area. This means the villa can comfortably sleep 6. In the summer months the Turkish professional classes, or those that can afford a holiday home arrive from cities such as Izmir and Instanbul to enjoy their yearly holiday. The main activities revolve around the harbour in the evenings where Dikili lazily comes to life. People eat drink and relax by having a fish supper and watching the stunning sunset. There is a small bazar where you can purchase local crafts and sometimes traditional music is arranged on the beach. The feel is very provincial and relaxing and catered firmly towards families and couples with a lack of noisy bars and discos thankfully. Children are welcomed with open arms in all establishments.

Doug says: "Villa Hanorah is a lovely two bedroom, two bath residence. It has high quality facilites including granite countertops, a dishwasher, cloths washer, and a full set of kitchen utensils. It is well decorated, clean, and the beds and couches were comforable. The owner was very supportive. The location is close to the sea and having support from the Mysia hotel is of value. The hotel helped arrange for a doctor to come to the villa to look at my daughter. All the neighbors were very friendly. Dikili and the area attractions will keep you busy. I do recommend having a rental car since it is a long walk into town from the villa and to most of the attractions other than the sea. I would enjoy booking Villa Hanorah again and staying in Dikili."
