Sheltered from the South-West by the delightful Ile de Re, La Tranche Sur Mer lies on the Atlantic coast 66km north of the beautiful historic port of La Rochelle inland villages such as Moutiers Les Mauxfaits are practically untouched by tourism.

There is also an abundance of things to see and do for all ages. The safe, clean blue flag beach is within easy walking distance and excellent for children. Many water sports are catered for and there is great river and sea fishing. A perfect base to discover the region's incredible countryside, it is excellent for walking, cycling, bird watching and golf.

La Rochelle: The famous city of La Rochelle is just 45 minutes away. Explore the chic shops or watch the world go by from one of the many trendy bars or bistros. And after an exhausting morning's shopping, you can look forward to a leisurely lunch in one of the mouth-watering seafood restaurants which overlook the port.

Puy du fou grand park is where time stands still - take a journey through 2,000 years of history. You will see villages from different eras, gladiators still doing battle, Vikings launching attacks on fortified castles and jousting knights plus a 1900 market town and a 18th Century Village. In the summer, there are 28 evening/night shows with 300 fireworks per show, 2000 digitally-controlled projectors, 1500 computerised fountains, 4500 costumes and many more special effects. There are minstrels in the heart of the woods and master falconers in the meadows. This huge area covering 40 hectares will be an instant hit with children and adults alike.

Green Venice: Known by locals as the Marais Poitevin, and by tourists as Green Venice, this area comprises an extensive canal network between Niort and La Rochelle. It has been developed over a thousand years, covering about 80,000 hectares (197,000 acres), and is now a regional park. Venise Verte is a crisscross patchwork of canals, shaded by poplars and beech trees, supporting a rich variety of wildlife. Picturesque white-washed villages emerge along the riverside often with direct river access. The waterways offer various fishing and boating facilities.
 

The house comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin and 2 cots. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the In the mezzanine room.. This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Review submitted by non-Villarenters customer: We all had a fantastic holiday and for me it was just the sort of place I like. The enclosed garden was perfect and safe for the children to play in. Can't fault the property. We usually treat accommodation as a base from which to explore but it was so comfortable and well resourced I would have been quite happy staying there all day (in the hammock!)
