Sunflower Cottage is spacious, comfortably furnished and very well equipped for a relaxing holiday in the beautiful Vendeen countryside. The large beamed sitting room has a 3 seater sofa, two seater sofa and an armchair as well as matching leg-rest. Satellite TV, English and French channels/DVD player. There is a large range of DVDs suitable for family viewing. The fireplace/ woodburner makes a wonderful focus for the room. Books/games etc. The bright and sunny country kitchen/ diner has a high vaulted ceiling with beams. Fridge, freezer,microwave, oven and a large range of cooking/serving equipment is provided. The dining table, which extends to seat up to eight people, is beside the large kitchen window. In the adjacent utility area is the dishwasher, iron/ironing board, cleaning equipment etc. The ground floor bathroom has a bath with shower over. A polished wooden staircase leads to the first floor landing. The spacious main bedroom, has pine furnishings and comfortable rugs lamps etc. and a single guest bed. The second bedroom, which sleeps up to 3 people, has a single bed and pine bunk beds. Both the bedroom windows have views over the surrounding countryside.

There is a private garden and patio equipped with sun loungers,tables and a BBQ. Parking is available in our private orchard opposite the house. 

Sunflower cottage is set in a rural farming hamlet where the Vendee, Deux Sevres and the Charente all meet. It is a quiet and safe area, ideal for a relaxing and interesting holiday.
Just a couple of minutes walk through the hamlet is a beautiful chateau, still owned and lived in by the descendents of the original family. Past the chateau there are open fields, woods and streams, making the area perfect for country walks, wild-life and bird-watching. The nearest boulangerie is in Bazoges-en-Pareds which is only 2 kms away. It is an historical and interesting village with a Donjon ( Medieval Tower ) and garden, all open to the public. There is also a bar and exceptional restaurant. Within 15 minutes drive is the leisure lake, Lac de Rochereau for boating, picnics, fishing, walks and swimming in summer. Less than 15 minutes drive is a fabulous open-air heating swimming pool. Supervised, it has a toddlers pool, sun loungers, shady areas, grassy picnic areas, bar, changing rooms and toilets. Open in the afternoons from 28th June until 31st August. (Please see images 8 & 9). Also there is an outdoor swimming pool in nearby Mouilleron-en-Pareds, which also has several bistros, bank, boulangerie, bars etc. The cottage is set between two main towns, for shopping, Hypermarkets, petrol and markets etc.  

This area offers something for everyone. From ancient and historical villages and chateaux to leisure lakes for swimming, boating and fishing. Visit the Mervent Forest with its beautiful lake. Ideal for walking and boating. Within the forest is a theme park and zoo or spend a day at the award winning village of Vouvant. Golf and horseriding are within easy reach, as is the magnificent Atlantic coast. Take a BBQ and have dinner on the beach while watching the sunset from one of the most westerly points in Europe. La Rochelle, a busy and vibrant fishing port, with is many restaurants serving food from all over the world, is not to be missed. Take a boat trip to the Ile de Re or Fort Bouyard. The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. The property also has 1 single sofa bed located in the Main bedroom. This gives room for up to 6 people.

The cottage has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use.

The cottage has television dvd, satellite/cable.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The cottage is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has a west facing garden, a west facing patio area, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The cottage is right beside walking.

Close to the cottage you will find swimming, sailing, boat hire, fishing, cycling, horse riding, tennis, historic sites, a museum, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find a beach, water skiing, wind surfing, golf, a sports center, a zoo, a theatre/cinema, a themepark.

15 mins: Fabulous open-air heated swimming pool water chute, toddlers pool etc.

Theme park of Puy de Fou, wine-tasting, visiting historic chateaux and villages.
